What is the DP Intermediate Wine Course? What is the difference between this course and the WSET Level 2 Award in Wines?
The DP Intermediate Wine Course is a unique program which combines the WSET Level 2 Award in Wines with extra content and support we believe is essential to our students studying in China. This is a 4-day course, with over 50 wines for tasting. The tuition fee is 6,600 RMB. This includes the exam fee for the Award, study materials, and all the wines tasted during class. Additionally, students receive a copy of DP’s exclusive Chinese-English study material.
What is the DP Advanced Wine Course? What is the difference between this course and the WSET Level 3 Award in Wines?
The DP Advanced Wine Course is a unique program which combines the WSET Level 3 Award in Wines with extra content and support we believe is essential to our students studying in China. This is a 50-hour course spread into 8 or 9 days, with over 110 wines to taste. The tuition fee is 13,800 RMB. Students will receive a copy of DP’s exclusive Chinese-English advanced study material alongside WSET’s material. The fee includes the exam administration, study materials, and all the wines tasted during class. This is an intense program with a lot of tasting exercises and homework. To register for this course, students must acquire the WSET Level 2 Award in Wines or a qualification with a similar knowledge level.
Is there any course suitable for wine beginners?
The DP Foundation Wine Course is designed to give beginners a fun and approachable introduction to the world of wine. This is a one-day (or two-afternoon) course in which you will taste 12 representative wines designed to help you understand the different styles of wine. Please note this is not the WSET Level 1 Award in Wines course.
I haven’t passed the WSET Level 1 Award in Wines. Can I study for the WSET Level 2 Award?
Yes, you can. However, some knowledge or experience of wine is highly recommended before you begin.
Is it necessary to pass the WSET Level 2 Award in Wines to register for the DP Advanced Wine Course?
Yes. Our DP Advanced Wine Course (which includes the WSET Level 3 Award in Wines) involves intensive study of professional-level wine knowledge and tasting skills. It is not suitable for beginners. The WSET Level 2 Award in Wines is required.
Are the Intermediate and Advanced courses taught together as a package?
No. The Intermediate and Advanced courses are scheduled as separate courses on different weekends, some Friday afternoons and occasionally on holidays.
Does DP offer English-only certificate courses?
Our DP Shanghai classroom offers Intermediate and Advanced wine courses taught only in English. Courses in other cities are mainly taught in Chinese, but English study materials and exams are available.
