Who are the designated educators for each course?
Each DP educator has significant wine education experience and is committed to ensuring excellence. To learn more about each of our educators, please visit our About Us page. Educators designated for certain courses are also defined in our course information. Fongyee Walker MW is now mainly responsible for teaching our DP Advanced Wine Course and, with Edward Ragg, the WSET Level 4 Diploma in Wines.
Are the DP Focus Courses only open in Beijing? Is it possible to follow online?
Our popular Wine Wednesday courses are held in our Beijing classroom every Wednesday at 7 p.m.. We also live-stream the first 40 minutes of every Wine Wednesday on “Yi Zhibo (一直播)” – the account ID is 298502251. Or you can search “龙凤美酒顾问” to find us.
We do open DP Focus Courses occasionally in other cities too. Please follow our official Wechat account and website to keep tuned in.
What are WSET exams like?
The WSET Level 2 Award in Wines and Spirits exam is a closed-book examination consisting of 50 multiple-choice questions. 2 marks are given for each correct answer. To pass the exam, you need to achieve a score of at least 55%.
The WSET Level 3 Award in Wines exam includes two units. Unit 1 is assessed by a closed-book examination of 50 multiple-choice questions and a short-written answer paper. Unit 2 is assessed by a blind tasting of two wines. To pass the exam, you need to achieve at least 55% in each unit.
The WSET Level 4 Diploma in Wines has six units: D1 Wine Production, D2 Wine Business, D3 Wines of the World, D4 Sparkling Wines, D5 Fortified Wines and D6 the Research Assignment. Each unit has its own exam requirements.
When will the exams take place?
The DP Foundation Wine Course exam is at the end of the course.
Our WSET Levels 2 and Level 3 Award exams are normally scheduled 2-3 weeks after the last course day.
WSET Diploma exams are fixed by WSET London when your designated course of study is confirmed.
When will I receive my exam results?
Depending on the level of the exam, it can take from 3 weeks to 2 months before the results are released to us. Please be patient and we will notify you about your result as soon as we receive it.
What if I cannot attend the exam?
If you cannot attend the exam set for your class, you can postpone your exam. You will receive an email notification about the next exam date and time as long as you remain on our exam waiting list.
If you have confirmed your attendance for the exam, please make sure that you show up. If you do not show up for the exam, the exam result will be marked as ‘non-attended’ and you need to pay exam fees for the next exam. There are exceptional circumstances where this does not apply which are adjudicated by the WSET.
